This section of the digital exhibit Filling the Gap: Universal Design, the Built Environment, and Disabled Doctors explores a small sampling of early pioneers as well as current architects and advocates of Universal Design in relation to architecture and the built environment. It focuses on four individuals: Selwyn Goldsmith, Ronald "Ron" Lawrence Mace, Sarah "Sally" Pillsbury Harkness and John "Jack" H. Catlin.

In the future, the project hopes to uncover more past and current voices in architecture which supported and support Universal Design in their practices, and build upon this list.
